Description: The primary hypothesis of this study is that FI block with a local anesthetic decreases narcotic consumption and provides improved pain control in patients undergoing THA compared to placebo.

Evaluate IV opioid consumption and the control of total hip arthroplasty (THA) post-operative pain in the first 24 hours
Fascia iliaca (FI) nerve block using ultrasound to locate the underlying structures for more precise placement
Randomized 1:1 to ultra-sound guided FI block with either the local anesthetic (ropivacaine) or saline
